Brahmi: The Brain and Hair Wonder Herb
Brahmi (also known as Gotu Kola), is referred to in Ayurveda as “the herb of enlightenment” or “the friend of the brain”. Its leaf resembles a cerebellum, hinting at its affinity for the brain. Brahmi is also the #1 Ayurvedic herb for hair growth.
Spiritually, it awakens the crown chakra. It balances the left and right hemispheres of the brain. Brahmi is said to bestow intelligence upon its user. It also decalcifies the pineal gland. I formulated our Brahmi Hair Oil as the multi-dimensional healing oil of your dreams: as you anoint your crown and massage your scalp with this high-vibrational oil, you are simultaneously rejuvenating your hair, scalp, brain, nerves, & crown chakra.
It is a Tridoshic herb, which means that it is beneficial to all 3 doshas. It also helps with overall circulation and movement of lymph (hence its inclusion in our Holy Basil Breast Oil). As an adaptogen, it calms and balances the nervous system.
As for the skin, it is rich in vitamin C and boosts natural collagen production. It stimulates regeneration of the skin cells. Ancient Ayurvedic texts like the Sushruta Samhita and the Charaka Samhita report that Brahmi “imparts a celestial glow to the complexion.”
